What is an Alternate Travel Plan?
‘Alternate Travel Plan’ (formerly known as Travel Guarantee) by ConfirmTkt is a feature that offers added assurance when booking a waitlist train ticket. It ensures that you either get a confirmed train ticket or a refund based on your selected travel mode *(3X for flight, 3X for bus, or 2X for train if your ticket remains waitlisted at the time of chart preparation.
Under the Alternate Travel Plan, the refund will be processed as follows:
- An amount equivalent to 1X of the ticket fare will be refunded to your original payment mode.
- The remaining refund amount will be credited as a Alternate Travel Plan Coupon, aligned with the travel mode selected at the time of claiming the coupon.
Breakdown of the refund based on the selected travel mode:
- Flight: 1X refund to the original payment mode + 2X refund as a Alternate Travel Plan Coupon
- Bus: 1X refund to the original payment mode + 2X refund as a Alternate Travel Plan Coupon
- Train: 1X refund to the original payment mode + 1X refund as a Alternate Travel Plan Coupon
Note: The Alternate Travel Plan Coupon is applicable for a single booking and can only be redeemed for the same travel mode selected at the time of claiming the coupon. The coupon remains valid for 7 days from the date of chart preparation of the original train booking. Also, the new travel date for which the coupon is used must fall within these 7 days.

How is the Refund Credited?

'Refund of the ticket fare' refers to the amount excluding ConfirmTkt service charges, convenience charges, payment gateway charges, discounts, and Alternate Travel Plan charges. The final refund amount will also vary based on the travel mode selected at the time of claiming the coupon.
Note:
- Under Alternate Travel Plan, you’ll receive a refund only if your booking remains unconfirmed at the time of chart preparation. Bookings with RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) or partially confirmed status will not be eligible for this refund.
- The Alternate Travel Plan Coupon is applicable for a single booking and can only be used for the selected travel mode. How can I claim my Alternate Travel Plan (formerly known as Travel Guarantee) Coupon?
If you're eligible for a refund (i.e., you opted for Alternate Travel Plan and your booking was not confirmed at the time of chart preparation), simply claim the Alternate Travel Plan Coupon from the trip details page. Can I use my Alternate Travel Plan Coupon amount to get a discount on more than 1 booking / travel mode?
No, the coupon can only be used for a single booking and specifically for the selected travel mode. It cannot be split between multiple bookings or travel modes, and any remaining coupon amount will expire.

Does the Alternate Travel Plan Coupon have a limited validity?
Yes, it has a 7-day validity. Therefore, your coupon must be claimed and used within 7 days from the date of chart preparation. What if my booking is not eligible for 'Alternate Travel Plan'?
If your booking is not eligible for 'Alternate Travel Plan,' you will see options like Assured or Assured Flex instead, which still offer benefits such as Free Cancellation or Booking Modification.

When the booking amount is lower than the coupon:
Suppose you’ve received an Alternate Travel Plan Coupon worth ₹3000 and selected 'train' as your travel mode while claiming it. Your total booking amount for the new booking is ₹2500. In this case, you will pay ₹0, and the coupon can be fully redeemed on this booking. ₹500 balance will lapse and won’t be eligible for later use, as the coupon can only be redeemed once.
When the booking amount is more than the coupon:
Suppose you’ve received an Alternate Travel Plan Coupon worth ₹3000 and selected 'train' as your travel mode while claiming it. Your total booking amount for the new booking is ₹4000. In this case, you will pay ₹1000 and use the coupon to get a discount of ₹3000 on this booking.

Will I get a refund, if I had opted for Alternate Travel Plan and after chart preparation some tickets in my multiple passenger booking remain waitlisted?
No, you will not receive a refund under Alternate Travel Plan (3X for flight, 3X for bus, or 2X for train), for partially confirmed or RAC bookings. This means that a refund under Alternate Travel Plan will not be provided even if some passengers' tickets remain waitlisted at the time of chart preparation.
Example: Suppose you made a single booking for 5 passengers, all initially waitlisted, and opted for Alternate Travel Plan. At the time of chart preparation, the booking was confirmed for 2 out of 5 passengers, while the remaining 3 were not confirmed. Therefore, you will not be eligible for a refund under Alternate Travel Plan.
Example: Suppose you made a single booking for 5 passengers, all initially waitlisted, and opted for Alternate Travel Plan. At the time of chart preparation, the booking was confirmed for 2 out of 5 passengers, while the remaining 3 were not confirmed. Therefore, you will not be eligible for a refund under Alternate Travel Plan.
What will happen when I cancel my booking / if my train gets cancelled?
With Alternate Travel Plan:
- If you cancel your waitlisted train ticket before chart preparation, you'll receive a refund as per the IRCTC cancellation policy. However, you will not be eligible for a refund under Alternate Travel Plan. Convenience charge, ConfirmTkt service charge, payment gateway charges, offer discount amount, and Alternate Travel Plan charges will also be non-refundable. In this case, if the user cancels a fully waitlisted ticket before chart preparation, the IRCTC cancellation fee will not be refunded by ConfirmTkt.
For example, if the ticket fare is ₹1500 and IRCTC Cancellation Fee is ₹60, the total refund you will receive is: ₹1500 (ticket fare) - ₹60 (cancellation fee) = ₹1440 (total refund).
- If your ticket is confirmed but you cancel it before or after chart preparation, IRCTC cancellation rules will apply. Any applicable refund will be credited accordingly. Is the Alternate Travel Plan coupon refundable after it has been redeemed?
Certain rules apply to the Alternate Travel Plan coupon. Once the coupon is claimed, the selected travel mode cannot be changed.
Additionally, once redeemed, the coupon is non-refundable. The Alternate Travel Plan coupon amount will not be refunded if the new booking (made using the coupon) is cancelled by the user, remains waitlisted at the time of chart preparation, or even if a Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR) is filed and approved by IRCTC.

- Train chart preparation schedule is controlled by the Indian Railways. The chart is usually prepared 8 hours prior to the train’s departure time from the source station. For early morning trains, the chart is typically prepared on the previous night.
- ConfirmTkt will not be responsible for the availability of an alternative mode of travel, choice of travel date or fare difference, if the ticket is not confirmed after opting for Alternate Travel Plan.
- IRCTC convenience charges, ConfirmTkt service charges, payment gateway charges, offer discounts, etc. are non-refundable if you have opted for Alternate Travel Plan.
- All disputes arising out of or in connection to this feature are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Gurugram only.
- By opting for Alternate Travel Plan, it is assumed that the passenger has given ConfirmTkt the permission to use their name, image and any other details or information available on their social media profiles, in any manner, to promote the offer or ConfirmTkt brand name or services.
- ConfirmTkt shall not be liable for any indirect, punitive, special, incidental or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with the offer. - Any Assured benefit, such as free cancellation, cannot be clubbed with Alternate Travel Plan.
- Under Alternate Travel Plan, you can book a maximum of three tickets per month.
- Alternate Travel Plan charges will only be refunded in the following cases:
- The train is cancelled by IRCTC, and you had opted for Alternate Travel Plan on this booking.
- The new booking made with the Alternate Travel Plan Coupon, where the bus is selected as your travel mode, is cancelled by the bus operator.
Alternate Travel Plan Coupon Terms and Conditions
- The Alternate Travel Plan Coupon can only be claimed once for the selected travel mode (train/bus/flight).
- It can only be claimed within 7 days (from the date of chart preparation). When using the Alternate Travel Plan Coupon for your next booking, your new travel date should also be within this 7-day period.
- The coupon will expire within 7 days once issued by ConfirmTkt. You’ll receive the instructions on how to claim the coupon via WhatsApp and email.
- In the case of a flight booking, the coupon can only be redeemed for a one-way domestic flight.
- The coupon code cannot be clubbed with any other offer and is non-transferable.
- The travel mode must be selected when claiming the coupon, and this mode cannot be changed afterwards.
- For train bookings, the coupon code discount will only be applicable on the ticket fare.
- For flight/bus bookings, the coupon code discount amount can be up to the ticket fare.
- While using the coupon, if the booking amount is higher than the coupon amount, then you need to pay the fare difference. If the booking amount is lower than the coupon amount, the balance amount will lapse and will not be refunded.
- The Alternate Travel Plan coupon cannot be exchanged, transferred to another account/used for bookings with another account or encashed.
- ConfirmTkt reserves the right to deny acceptance of any Alternate Travel Plan Coupon due to duplicity. ConfirmTkt shall not be held responsible in this regard.
- At the time of claiming the coupon, you will be eligible for a refund based on your selected travel mode. The total refund value under Alternate Travel Plan will be:
- 3X for flight
- 3X for bus
- 2X for train. - The total refund breakup will be as follows:
- For a 3X refund, 1X will be credited to the original payment mode, and 2X will be refunded as a Alternate Travel Plan Coupon.
- For a 2X refund, 1X will be credited to the original payment mode, and 1X will be refunded as a Alternate Travel Plan Coupon. - Once redeemed, the Alternate Travel Plan coupon is non-refundable. The coupon amount will not be refunded if the new booking (regardless of the selected travel mode e.g., bus, flight, or train) is cancelled by the user. Additionally, for train bookings, the coupon amount will not be refunded if the ticket remains waitlisted at the time of chart preparation or if a TDR is filed and approved by IRCTC.
- The number of passengers in the alternate mode of travel must be equal to or less than the number of passengers in the original train booking where you had opted for Alternate Travel Plan.
- For flight bookings made using an Alternate Travel Plan Coupon, passenger names must have either the first or last name matching the name on the original train booking and must be as per the government ID proof. In case of train bookings, the name must be same as in your original train booking.
- The departure city and the destination city of the alternate mode of transport, in case of flight booking, should be within 300 km of the stations for which the train ticket was booked under the Alternate Travel Plan.
Example: Suppose you booked a train ticket from Lucknow to Varanasi, and the ticket was not confirmed. As part of the Alternate Travel Plan offer, a 3X refund was issued in your favour. You can use the Alternate Travel Plan coupon to book a flight from Kanpur to Prayagraj, as both cities are within 300 km of the boarding and destination stations of the original train booking where Alternate Travel Plan was opted. However, you cannot use the coupon to book a flight from Delhi to Patna, as Delhi is not within 300 km of Lucknow and Patna is not within 300 km of Varanasi. - The departure city and the destination city of the alternate mode of transport, in case of bus booking, should be within 100 km of the stations for which the train ticket was booked under the Alternate Travel Plan.
Example: Suppose you booked a train ticket from Lucknow to Varanasi, and the ticket was not confirmed. As part of the Alternate Travel Plan offer, a 3X refund was issued in your favour. You can use the Alternate Travel Plan coupon to book a bus from Kanpur to Mirzapur, as both cities are within 100 km of the boarding and destination stations of the original train booking where the Alternate Travel Plan was opted. However, you cannot use the coupon to book a bus from Delhi to Patna, as Delhi is not within 100 km of Lucknow and Patna is not within 100 km of Varanasi. - Under Alternate Travel Plan, you are allowed to claim only up to three coupons per month.
- The Alternate Travel Plan Coupon can be redeemed only on bookings made through selected bus partners.
- In the event of suspected fraudulent activity or misuse of Alternate Travel Plan, ConfirmTkt reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to reject any coupon claims without prior notice.
- If the service for the selected travel mode (e.g., bus, flight, or train) is suspended or cancelled, and you booked the ticket using the Alternate Travel Plan Coupon, the coupon will not be refunded and will lapse. Any amount paid above the value of the coupon will be refunded to your original payment method.
