What is an Alternate Travel Plan?

‘Alternate Travel Plan’ (formerly known as Travel Guarantee) by ConfirmTkt is a feature that offers added assurance when booking a waitlist train ticket. It ensures that you either get a confirmed train ticket or a refund based on your selected travel mode *(3X for flight, 3X for bus, or 2X for train if your ticket remains waitlisted at the time of chart preparation.

Under the Alternate Travel Plan, the refund will be processed as follows:
- An amount equivalent to 1X of the ticket fare will be refunded to your original payment mode.
- The remaining refund amount will be credited as a Alternate Travel Plan Coupon, aligned with the travel mode selected at the time of claiming the coupon.

Breakdown of the refund based on the selected travel mode:
- Flight: 1X refund to the original payment mode + 2X refund as a Alternate Travel Plan Coupon
- Bus: 1X refund to the original payment mode + 2X refund as a Alternate Travel Plan Coupon
- Train: 1X refund to the original payment mode + 1X refund as a Alternate Travel Plan Coupon

Note: The Alternate Travel Plan Coupon is applicable for a single booking and can only be redeemed for the same travel mode selected at the time of claiming the coupon. Here’s how it works:

If you've opted for Alternate Travel Plan on a ticket worth ₹2000, you are eligible for a 3X refund—that’s a total of ₹6000.

Your refund of ₹6000 will be processed as follows:

₹2000

Will be refunded to your original payment mode

₹4000

Will be credited as an Alternate Travel Plan Coupon

'Refund of the ticket fare' refers to the amount excluding ConfirmTkt service charges, convenience charges, payment gateway charges, discounts, and Alternate Travel Plan charges. The final refund amount will also vary based on the travel mode selected at the time of claiming the coupon.

Note:
- Under Alternate Travel Plan, you’ll receive a refund only if your booking remains unconfirmed at the time of chart preparation. Bookings with RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) or partially confirmed status will not be eligible for this refund.
- The Alternate Travel Plan Coupon is applicable for a single booking and can only be used for the selected travel mode. It remains valid for 7 days from the chart preparation date of the original train booking. Additionally, when redeeming the coupon for a new booking, the travel date must fall within these 7 days.

How do I claim my Alternate Travel Plan Coupon?

If you had opted for Trip Guarantee while booking your train ticket and if your ticket remains unconfirmed at the time of chart preparation, you are eligible for a refund. You can simply claim it from the trip details page. Choose your preferred travel mode and proceed. The coupon code will be shared with you via WhatsApp and email, which you can use to avail a discount on your next booking.

Is the Alternate Travel Plan feature available for all trains?

‘Alternate Travel Plan’ is available for select trains. While many trains are covered under this feature, you can check if your train is eligible for a Trip Guarantee at the time of booking.

Can I use my Alternate Travel Plan Coupon for multiple bookings or travel modes?

No, you cannot use the Alternate Travel Plan Coupon for multiple bookings/travel modes. It can only be used for a single booking for a selected mode, and any remaining coupon amount will expire.

Note: The coupon code discount applies only to the train ticket fare. For flight and bus bookings, the coupon code discount amount can be up to the ticket fare.

How long is the Alternate Travel Plan Coupon valid?

An Alternate Travel Plan Coupon is valid only for 7 days, and it should be claimed within 7 days from the date of chart preparation. Also, you can only apply the coupon code if your new travel date falls within the 7-day period. For flight bookings, the coupon can only be used for a one-way domestic flight.

If I cancel my ticket or the train is cancelled, what will happen to my booking?

With Alternate Travel Plan:
- If you cancel your waitlisted train ticket prior to the chart preparation, you will get a refund as per the IRCTC cancellation policy. However, you will not qualify for a refund under the Alternate Travel Plan. Convenience charges, ConfirmTkt service charges, payment gateway charges, offer discounts, and Alternate Travel Plan charges will also be non-refundable. In this scenario, if a user cancels a completely waitlisted ticket before the chart preparation, ConfirmTkt will not refund the IRCTC cancellation fee. For instance, if the ticket price is ₹1500 and the IRCTC cancellation fee amounts to ₹60, the total refund you would receive is: ₹1500 (ticket price) - ₹60 (cancellation fee) = ₹1440 (total refund).
-If you cancel your confirmed ticket either before or after the chart is prepared, the cancellation rules set by IRCTC will be applied. Any applicable refunds will be processed accordingly.
- Additionally, you will not qualify for a refund under Alternate Travel Plan. Convenience charges, ConfirmTkt service charges, payment gateway charges, offer discounts, and Alternate Travel Plan charges will also be non-refundable.
- If IRCTC cancels the train, you will not qualify for a refund under Alternate Travel Plan, but a full refund of the ticket fare will be processed automatically.

Can I get a refund after redeeming the Alternate Travel Plan Coupon?

Once you claim the Alternate Travel Plan Coupon, the selected travel mode cannot be changed. After the coupon is redeemed, it becomes non-refundable. If the new trip guarantee train tickets booking made using the coupon is cancelled by the user, remains waitlisted at the time of chart preparation, or if a Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR) is filed and approved by IRCTC, the coupon amount will not be refunded.

Will I get a refund if I opt for Alternate Travel Plan and some tickets in my multi-passenger booking remain waitlisted after chart preparation?

No, Alternate Travel Plan refunds (3X for flights, 3X for buses, or 2X for trains) are not applicable for partially confirmed or RAC bookings. This means that if some passengers' tickets remain waitlisted at the time of chart preparation, a refund under Alternate Travel Plan will not be provided.

Alternate Travel Plan Feature Terms and Conditions

Alternate Travel Plan is a paid feature, available only for select trains and classes booked through ConfirmTkt.
Terms and conditions are subject to modification at any time without prior notice.
With Alternate Travel Plan, you are eligible to receive a refund of the ticket fare (3X for flight, 3X for bus, or 2X for train) based on your selected mode of travel, provided your booking remains fully waitlisted at the time of chart preparation:
- For a 3X refund: 1X of the ticket fare will be refunded to your original payment mode, while 2X will be issued as an Alternate Travel Plan Coupon.
- For a 2X refund: 1X will be refunded to your original payment mode, and 1X will be issued as an Alternate Travel Plan Coupon.
The Alternate Travel Plan Coupon has a maximum limit of ₹6000.
For example, if your ticket fare is ₹4000 and you are eligible for a 3X refund, ₹4000 will be credited to your original payment mode, and instead of ₹8000, only ₹6000 will be issued as an Alternate Travel Plan Coupon.
You will not be eligible for a refund under the Alternate Travel Plan (3X for flights, 3X for buses, or 2X for trains) in the following scenarios:
- RAC Bookings After Chart Preparation: Trip Guarantee in IRCTC will not be applicable for Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) bookings once the chart is prepared.
- Partially Confirmed Bookings: If a booking with multiple passengers is only partially confirmed and some tickets remain waitlisted, it will not be eligible for a 3X refund.
- Cancellation After Opting for Alternate Travel Plan: If you cancel your ticket after selecting Alternate Travel Plan, a refund under this feature will not be provided.
- Cancellation Before Chart Preparation: If you cancel a waitlisted train ticket before the chart is prepared, the refund will be processed as per IRCTC's cancellation policy.
- Confirmed Ticket Cancellation: If your ticket is confirmed and you cancel it before or after chart preparation, IRCTC's cancellation rules will apply, and any applicable refund will be credited accordingly.
- Train Cancellation by IRCTC: If IRCTC cancels the train, a full refund of the ticket fare will be automatically processed.

If a waitlisted ticket is cancelled, the refund will be processed as per the IRCTC cancellation policy.

- Train cancellation by IRCTC: If the train is cancelled by IRCTC, a full refund of the ticket fare for your booking will be initiated automatically.In this case, Alternate Travel Plan charges will also be refunded.

If a waitlisted ticket is cancelled, you will receive a refund as per the IRCTC cancellation policy.
The train chart preparation schedule is controlled by the Railways. Generally, the chart is prepared four hours before the train departs from the source station. For early morning trains, the chart is usually prepared the night before.
ConfirmTkt is not responsible for the availability of an alternative mode of travel, choice of travel date or fare difference, If a ticket is not confirmed after opting for Alternate Travel Plan.
If you have opted for Alternate Travel Plan, the following charges are non-refundable: IRCTC convenience charges, ConfirmTkt service charges, payment gateway charges, offer discounts, and Alternate Travel Plan charges.
All disputes arising out of or in connection to this feature are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Bengaluru only.
By choosing Alternate Travel Plan, it is assumed that the passenger permits ConfirmTkt to use their name, image and any other social media details to promote the offer or ConfirmTkt brand name or services in any manner.
ConfirmTkt shall not be liable for any indirect, punitive, special, incidental or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with the offer. Notwithstanding anything contrary contained hereunder, in no event the aggregate liability of ConfirmTkt under this offer shall exceed the amount of the coupon availed by the customer amount under this offer.
The number of passengers in the alternate travel mode must not exceed the number in the original train booking where Alternate Travel Plan was selected. Additionally, all passenger names must match the original train booking.
Alternate Travel Plan allows a maximum of three bookings per month.

Alternate Travel Plan Coupon Terms and Conditions

You can claim the Alternate Travel Plan Coupon only once for the selected mode of travel (train, bus, or flight).
The Alternate Travel Plan Coupon can be claimed only within 7 days of chart preparation. When using it for your next booking, the travel date must also be within these 7 days.
The coupon expires 7 days after issuance by ConfirmTkt. Instructions for claiming it will be sent via WhatsApp and email.
For flight bookings, the coupon can only be redeemed for a one-way domestic flight. For train bookings, the coupon code discount applies only to the ticket fare.
The coupon code is non transferable and cannot be combined with other offers.
The selected travel mode for the coupon claim cannot be changed after selection.
For flight/bus bookings, the coupon code discount amount can be up to the ticket fare.
If the booking amount exceeds the coupon amount, you need to pay the fare difference. However, if the booking amount is lower than the coupon amount, the remaining balance will lapse and will not be refunded.
The Alternate Travel Plan Coupon is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged, encashed, or used for bookings on another account.
ConfirmTkt reserves the right to deny acceptance of any Alternate Travel Plan Coupon in case of duplicity. ConfirmTkt shall not be held responsible in this regard.
At the time of claiming the coupon, you will be eligible for a refund based on your selected travel mode (3X for flight, 3X for bus, 2X for train).
The total refund breakup will be as follows:
- For a 3X refund, 1X will be credited to the original payment mode, and 2X will be credited as an Alternate Travel Plan Coupon.
For a 2X refund, 1X will be credited to the original payment mode, and 1X will be credited as an Alternate Travel Plan Coupon.
Once redeemed, the Alternate Travel Plan Coupon is non-refundable. The coupon amount will not be refunded if the new booking (made using the coupon) is cancelled by the user, remains waitlisted at the time of chart preparation, or if a TDR is filed and approved by IRCTC.
The number of passengers in the alternate travel mode cannot exceed the number in the original train booking where Alternate Travel Plan was selected. All passenger names must match the original booking details.
Under the Alternate Travel Plan, you are allowed to claim only up to three coupons per month.
In the event of suspected fraudulent activity or misuse of Alternate Travel Plan, ConfirmTkt reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to reject any coupon claims without prior notice.
If the service for the selected travel mode (e.g., bus, flight, or train) is suspended or cancelled, and you've booked the ticket using the Alternate Travel Plan Coupon, the coupon will not be refunded and will lapse. The Alternate Travel Plan charges, in this case, are also non-refundable. However, any additional amount paid above the value of the Alternate Travel Plan Coupon will be refunded to the original payment method.
